Lamp and Light
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Psalms 119:105
Word:
The Living Word, Jesus Christ, The Logos, the written Word; John 1:1-4.
Lamp:
A container for a substance that will burn, usually oil, to give light; Ex 25:6. Oil, the Holy Spirit; Acts 10:38. Gives enough light to shine on our feet and to light our path; John 5:35.
Feet:
Gives us the ability and stability to walk. Reveals what is hidden in the darkness; 2 Sam 22:29.
Light:
Genesis 1:3 “Light be” is natural light but this light is in us, given by God’s word. Ability to shine. Affects our life and lifestyle, who we are and how we live; Prov 20:27.
Path:
The way on which we walk. The where of our going. The Lamp, God’s Word shines on our feet and shows our path of life and living. Reveals what is on our pathway; Job 29:23.
In His Light
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7
God our light:
The Lord is my light and my salvation. Psalms 27:1.
God our life and light:
It is in Him that we have life and light: John 1:4.
We become light:
Our light comes from God who is within us, and we live and walk as children of light: Eph. 5:8.
God lights candles:
Lights our conscience. Proverbs 20:27. Live as examples of light. Matt 5:14-15. Our lights rejoice. Prov 13:9.
God lights our walk:
Walk in and believe in the light. John 12:35-36.
Having Fellowship
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7
We have fellowship:
We are to be perfectly joined together: 1 Cor. 1:10. The cup of blessing, the bread which we break, we partake of that cup and bread together: 1 Cor 10:16-17.
Walking together:
Sweet counsel, walking into the House of God. Psalms 55:14. Speak well of each other, thinking upon His name. Mal. 3:16.
Mutual faith:
Our faith should bring comfort. Rom 1:12.
Comfort in fellowship:
Being knit together in love. Col 2:2.
His Blood Cleanses
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:7
His Blood:
Without the shedding of His blood – NO remission. Heb 9:22.
Shed for Many:
The blood of the New Testament. Matthew 26:28.
Eternal life:
Partaking of Him. John 6:53-56.
Peace and Reconciliation:
Peace is made through the blood of the cross. Col. 1:20.
Power to Purchase:
The church is purchased. Acts 20:28.
Asking
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Matt 7:7
Abraham’s intercession with God:
Will God also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Genesis 18:23-32.
David’s intercession with God:
Who am I, O lord God? And what is my house? 2 Samuel 7:16-29.
Solomon’s intercession with God:
And Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the people. 1 Kings 8:22-61.
Disciples’ intercession with God:
Lord teach us to pray. Luke 11:1-13
Power to Purchase:
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His to heaven, and said… John 17:1-26
Encouraged to Ask
In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
1 Kings 3:5.
Ask for rain:
God will pour out rain in the time of the latter rain. Zech 10:1.
All things received:
Asking in prayer, believing, you will receive. Matt 21:21-22.
Whatsoever you ask…that I will do:
That I will do, that the Father may be glorified. John 14:13.
By asking your joy is fulfilled:
Ask, and you will receive. John 16:24.
Be open to God – He will fill:
Open wide and God will fill. Psalms 81:10.
Asking Equals Receiving
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matt 7:8.
We receive of Him:
We receive of Him: 1 John 3:22.
Whatsoever you desire, pray, believe, and receive:
Pray, believe, and receive: Mark 11:24.
Call upon Him…He will fulfill your desire:
He will fulfill your desire: Psalms 145:18-19.
He wants to show us great and mighty things:
He will answer and show us great and mighty things: Jeremiah 33:3.
This Poor Man Cried … and God Heard
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
Psalms 34:6.
This poor man … not in the sense of material wealth, but rather in the assessment of the inner person; the sense of being afflicted, crushed, forsaken, desolate. Being destitute of value and self-worth.
I will pray, and cry aloud.
God will hear your voice. Psalms 55:17
You have the ear of God.
My cry came before Him. Psalms 18:6.
God will regard our prayer.
He will not despise our prayer. Psalms 102:17.
We will be made joyful.
Our prayers will be accepted on His altar. Isaiah 56:7.
God is able.
Makes all grace abound toward you. 2 Cor. 9:8
God Is Able – 1
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Ephesians 3:20
Is God able?
Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14.
Is God able?
With God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37.
Is God able?
God made the heaven and the earth. Jeremiah 32:17.
Is God able?
There is no restraint to the Lord. 1 Sam 14:6.
Is God able?
God’s power is to be personable. Job 42:2.
God Is Able – 2
The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.
I Kings 17:16.
The widow of Zarephath gave all that she had to feed the prophet Elijah, with that God gave back to her an endless supply of flour and oil in the midst of a severe drought.
Is God able?
Fill the waterpots with water. John 2:7-11.
Is God able?
Jesus said, …all things are possible. Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27.
Is God able?
Is God’s hand shortened? See God’s word come to pass. Num 11:23.
Is God able?
Is God’s hand shortened? Can God redeem? Isaiah 50:2.

Our answer, His hand is not shortened nor His ear heavy. Isaiah 59:1

We need to be fully persuaded in what God says. Romans 4:21
God Is Able – 3
The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quite you with His love, He will rejoice over with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17.
The Lord your God, “Jehovah Eloheycha” He is the “self-existent and eternal being, who is in covenant with you. The character of God is standing in your midst having the closest relationship and fellowship with you.
Is God able?
He was in the lion’s den. Daniel 6:20.

He was born unto us as the Mighty God. Isaiah 9:6.

He has made us His dwelling place. John 14:23

What shall we say to all these things? Romans 8:31

Abraham did not stagger at His power. Romans 4:20-21.
God Is Able – 4
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

He is able to save us. Hebrews 7:25; Isaiah 45:22.
